Diwali is the Indian festival of lights. To make a long story short: A long, long, LOOOOONG time ago an indian king destroyed a demon that was terrorizing the subcontinental neighbourhood. The people celebrated with lights and firecrackers. The tradition continues to this day. Why? Because burning/ exploding things is fun! This is what humans like to do!
Seriously though, I prefer the family get togethers and stuffing yourself with sweets and snacks part of Diwali. The firecracker exploding part is just a pain in the ... er eardrum!
Unfortunately, I'm stuck in Singapore this Diwali. I was going to post a 'Diwali' themed illustration but havn't had time (was at lab till 8pm today, despite the fact that its a public holiday and ITS DIWALI!)
So without further ado, here's my Illustration Friday submission for the week. I call it missing me hurts you/ afraid to forget you. Its not meant to be scary or anything! :)
Here's the origianl version, I added the one above because apparantly Whoopy doesn't show up on some screens in her avatar below! :)

this is heart-wrenching- I used to have dreams about the ghosts of my pets.
This is a sad coincidence, this week a friend from the blogosphere lost his cat, Cris, and this week we have ghost as topic :(
This is his entry: http://www.antiheroe.com/blog/?p=45

I like the way you write, it makes me feel at home :)
Oh cool--I was just talking to a close friend in Trinadad last night who was letting me listen to the fireworks going off for this festival of lights (she has Indian roots too). I love how you revealed the beast here. Nice job!
Great image. I assume that you wanted the piece to look like it was made from fireworks, because it does. I really like it.
:)=
Thanks for spending some time on my blog... :)
I love the description you do of yourself :)
See you

Nice story behind the illo. We just visited Singapore in the month of the ghost, staying with our son who works out there.
